APACMed in partnership with K&L Gates is organizing the APACMed AI Workshop – AI Compliance and Governance Frameworks for MedTech Companies. This interactive, half-day in-person workshop will: 

• Examine real-world approaches to building transparent, ethical, and compliant AI systems. 

• Explore how privacy, explainability, and regulatory alignment are being embedded into AI design and deployment based on success stories / case studies. 

• Stay informed on emerging APAC and global frameworks around Health AI governance.

Takeaways to design a scalable, risk-based AI governance framework, with key roles and functions in an AI governance committee 

Case Studies 

(30 mins x 2 = 1 hour) 

1-2 real world cases will be discussed, with the participation of attendees encouraged to tackle questions on the arising legal and ethical challenges in each situation, and how best to solve them. Discussions will be facilitated by the speakers. 

Lucas Nicolet-Serra (Counsel, Singapore) advises clients across the life sciences, digital health, and fintech sectors. His practice focuses on complex cross-border transactions, regulatory compliance, and technology-driven innovation, with a particular emphasis on AI, data privacy, digital assets, and medical technology. Lucas represents multinational corporations, financial investors, and fast-growth technology companies across Asia-Pacific. He has significant experience navigating sector-specific legal frameworks in emerging and highly regulated industries.  

 Lucas Nicolet-Serra is teaching with Assas University on AI topics, and has also been invited to speak at various events on artificial intelligence by organisers such as APACMed, the Life Science Legal and Compliance Professionals in APAC association, LexisNexis, and TechLaw Fest.
 

Esther Neo (Associate, Singapore) is an associate in the firm’s Singapore office. Prior to joining the firm, Esther worked as an associate at a Singapore law firm where she focused her practice on mergers and acquisitions, equity capital markets, corporate finance, general corporate commercial transactions, as well as blockchain and distributed ledger technology transactions. She also has experience advising clients on employment law and data protection law from time to time.
