#BeCyberSmart

October became recognized as Cybersecurity Awareness Month starting in 2004, by the National Cyber Security Alliance & the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Healthcare is becoming more digital and ‘connected’, increasing the need for cybersecurity and protecting information. Digital adoption has led to increased collection of personal and financial data about customers. Making them more attractive targets for cybercriminals.

Healthcare data may be valued at up to$250 per recordon the black market.

Healthcare organizations leverage specialized hospital information systems such as:

• EHR systems
• e-prescribing systems
• practice management support systems
• clinical decision support systems
• radiology information systems and
• computerized physician order entry systems.

Additionally, thousands of devices that comprise the Internet of Things provide an increased quality of patient care:

• smart elevators
• smart heating
• ventilation and air
• conditioning (HVAC) systems
• infusion pumps
• remote patient monitoring devices

The global healthcare A.I. market is projected to reach over$28 billion in 2025.

A rise in compromised healthcare records, amounted to over41 millionpatient record breaches in 2019.

To meet patients’ growing expectations and needs, healthcare organizations must empower care teams, optimize clinical effectiveness, and reinvent the care continuum, all while balancing cybersecurity.

The Digital Health Committee’s mission is to support the Asia Pacific MedTech industry in addressing challenges and conquering digital health though building digital health ecosystems, creating knowledge, and advocating for optimal policies.
