APACMed joined members of the Global Medical Technology Alliance (GMTA) to welcome the recently released World Health Assembly (WHA) resolution on the Importance of Diagnostic Products for Global Public Health.
The resolution highlighted the fundamental role diagnostics play at all levels of health infrastructure. To ensure equitable and timely access to diagnostics, Member States must expand skilled workforce training, advance regulatory harmonisation, invest in research and development and manufacturing; and prioritise diagnostic services in their national strategies. The resolution also calls on WHO to ensure a flexible and responsive regulatory and guidance environment that facilitates patient access to diagnostic innovations when needed.
